Malaysian Mensa Year End Bash 2009 - 27 Dec 2009

On 27 Dec 2009, Malaysian Mensa celebrated the end of 2009 with singing and
games at the Red Box Karaoke in Midvalley Gardens Mall.  About 35 people turned
up. Dress code was wild and/or Christmassy. Those who arrived on the dot at 13:00
wasted no time in selecting songs and singing (croaking). Others gradually arrived.
A sumptuous buffet spread served behind the karaoke reception was the only thing
that stopped everyone chatting and singing in the function room - for a short while at
least.

Five groups competed for the best performing group following an impromptu
selection of songs. The stage and the multiple big screens of the function room
served its purpose.

Lee Yee Dian also provided us with a fun quiz session - testing wits with pictures
projected on the screens.

Others then continued with singing, dancing and performing to the tunes and music
videos until it was time to leave at 18:00

Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition visit - 10 Jan 2010

Thanks to Pauline, a small group of 10 Mensans enjoyed the exhibition together.

It was really very exciting for us and we were awed by the achievements of this
genius of a man. We could appreciate his art, designs which exhibited an
abundance of spatial intelligence and logic and the many problems he would have
encountered in his era. Many of his designs were from his imagination. He left many
as sketches and those who created his machines were amazed that they could
actually work!

The Mona Lisa! The mysterious smile, who was she? Was it Leonardo himself?
Then the analysis of the painting in detail. There was another masterpiece - The Last
Supper.

Do you know, he had so many projects going on at the same time, he could hardly
have the time to complete his paintings? According to him, a painting can never be
completed but only abandoned. He never signed his paintings; we guessed he
never considered them done.

Thanks again Pauline, this exhibition makes most sense to Mensans.
